Asafa Powell the world's fastest man and Veronica Campbell, the world's fastest woman over the 100 meters this year will lead Jamaica's charge at the IAAF World Championships in Osaka Japan, tomorrow (Tonight Jamaica time).
Powell, the word record holder over 100 meters, with a triple 9.77 seconds record, has a season best 9.90 secnds and will need to go faster if he wants to beat the inform Tyson Gay of America with his seasn best of 9.84 secs. set at the US Trials earlier this year.
Gay, is tipped to capture the sprint double, as he also has the fastest time over the 200m distance this year, a sizzling 19.62 seconds makes him the second fastest man over the half lap race in history. In that race Gay faces Jamaica's Central America and Caribbean record holder Usain Bolt who ran 19.75 seconds at his national trials.
Bolt many suspects will be battling for the silver against American Wallace Spearman.
